Abstract
The present study examines the claimed language proficiency of Kashmiri speakers of Ratnipora, Pulwama, in four languages—Kashmiri, Urdu, English, and Hindi. It focuses on four basic language skills: understanding, speaking, reading, and writing. The study aims to assess the proficiency of the respondents in each language and examine variations across these skills. It also seeks to provide an understanding of the multilingual abilities of Kashmiri speakers in the selected area.
